Currently reading:  “The Moldavian Pimp” by Edgardo Cozarinsky. Mostly because I’m something of a Moldavian pimp, myself (Republic of Moldova, WHAT UP!) but also because it concerns pretty much all the things I care about: Buenos Aires, Eastern Europe, and Jewish immigrants. Plus, considering that one of the few mentions of  Moldova I’ve seen in the US was referring to it as a Latin American country, it’s nice to see it identified properly. Even if it is in the context of prostitution (super apt though).

Currently listening to: Paul Anka, the Chiffons, and pretty much all the early 60s music I loved growing up. Why? Cause you’re never too old to do the twist.

Currently wondering: WHY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO REALIZE TOM WILSON IS ON TWITTER. And also, how to best befriend him, cause I think he’s the coolest. I mean, come on.

Currently gloating about: The fact that Filter loved Jayne’s awesome Mixtape Friday post about kick-ass covers.

Currently excited about: Shopping with Jayne this week (because it involves about 40% shopping and 60% food. Just like mother nature intended).

Currently reading: The Miniature Wife: And Other Stories by Manuel Gonzales. Because I am currently in mourning for Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Gonzales’s short-but-punchy stories are full of Marquez-sian themes and imagery. Think one-half GGM, and one-half Aimee Bender (and if you haven’t read Aimee Bender, you must remedy that post-haste!).

Currently listening to: Social Distortion’s cover of Chuck Berry’s “Maybellene” (and kicking myself for forgetting to include it in last week’s Mixtape Friday; also, T is going to LOVE this cover considering her love for Chuck Berry), and Hank Williams III’s Straight to Hell album (because one should never forget that the roots of rock ‘n’ roll are in boot-stompin’ country music, y’all!).

Currently wondering: If the creek is named after Dawson, or if Dawson is named after the creek. Truly, one of the most persistently haunting questions of my youth (and one of the many, many reasons why I never watched teen melodramas).

Currently gloating about: How many random-ass bands have started following me on twitter after Filter openly declared their love for Lady Bromance and Mixtape Friday. The power…it is getting to me.

Currently excited about: EVENTUALLY RULING THE FUCKIN WORLD WITH MY BESTIE! (Told you it was getting to me.)
